Protected Area Specialist
Pakistan” related office and field activities and be based at Country Programme Office Islamabad. The incumbent
will be responsible for activities related to the designation and management of marine protected areas (MPAs) in
Pakistan.
Under the overall supervision of Project Manager - Pakistan Coastal Resilience Project, the incumbent will be responsible for following specific duties and responsibilities:
The Protected Area Specialist will play a key role in providing advice and support for project activities related with protected areas, especially the designation of new Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and the establishment of management regime for existing MPAs in the country in full compliance with the state policies, associated
procedures, guidelines and standards
• Implement all project activities and deliverables carry forwarding the process of the designation of MPAs in the
Pakistan in accordance with the project documents and workplans.
• Develop the necessary terms of references for the project experts / consultants as needed for conducting the
project activities related with the designation and management of MPAs.
• Assess and support project experts and consultants, and conduct quality control to ensure experts’ delivery of
contracted studies and analysis.
• Participate in, and organize regular meetings with and to maintain an appropriate communication flow between
relevant Government departments/ agencies/ authorities, civil society, conservation organizations, experts /
consultants and IUCN network of experts to facilitate the process of designation of new MPAs and establishment
of management regime for existing MPAs in the country.
• Maintain all project technical reports and deliverables related with the work on the MPAs in the project.
• Participate (or coordinate and/or facilitate) in events, workshops, and meetings logistics and trainings related
with MPAs.
• Assist in maintaining strong relationships with relevant partners and stakeholders and maintaining
communications and efficient collaboration with project beneficiaries.
• Performing any other duties as requested by the line manager.
