Mission and objectives

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2018-2021), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths, end unmet need for family planning, and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.

Context

UNFPA starts the implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in 2020 under the “Women and Family Protection Program” in cooperation with partner. CVA is provided in the context of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and the Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) programming in Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem. Currently, UNFPA is implementing CVA through the existing UN to UN Agreement with WFP, who serve as service provider for the payment system. Through this system, UNFPA cash transfer beneficiaries are entitled to cash-out or to make purchases at any of the WFP contracted retailers through the PalPay system. This United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assignment is part of [UNFPA] efforts to responding to Gaza crisis.
