Programme Assistant - Conserving Critically Endangered White-rumped Vultures in Bangladesh

BACKGROUND
IUCN, represented by its Bangladesh Country Office, is implementing a project entitled “ Conserving Critically Endangered White-rumped Vultures in Bangladesh” funded by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) . The aim of this project would be to use Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite tags on WRVs to understand the causes of mortality and identify hotspots for feeding/breeding/roosting. Alongside this work, IUCN Bangladesh would also conduct country-wide undercover pharmacy surveys to assess the current status of NSAIDs in the market, and with community-based Vulture Conservation Teams conduct nest monitoring and awareness campaigns in vulture hotspots to reduce use of toxic drugs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh and under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, Species and Habitats , the Programme Assistant will work with the project team and all stakeholders, support the project manager in successfully conducting the project activities as well as assist the project manager in completing other managerial duties, making sure that the project deliverables are submitted timely and correctly.

10.1. PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

1. Support effective and efficient coordination to the programme team in the preparation of various programme-related documents such as work plans, budgets, reports, and proposals related to programme implementation activities;
2. Identify sources, and gather and collect data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, and other material as required;
3. Provide logistical support and documentation support in organizing workshops, awareness campaigns, training programmes and seminar regarding vulture conservation;
4. Assist to support Vulture satellite tagging activities in Vulture Safe Zones area.
5. Conduct undercover pharmacy surveys as per the project work plan.
6. Assist in conducting Vulture Conservation Team meetings, Vulture Feeding Station operation activities, procurement of cows, nesting and roosting tree survey, , awareness campaigns, vulture rescue and rehabilitation, and related field work as per project plan;
1. Ensure timely and smooth communication with VCTs and other local stakeholders;
2. Assist the project team to ensure that all project reports and all other committed deliverables are produced, submitted and accepted by the donor in a timely manner as per the Agreement;

10.2. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

1. Maintain and organize up-to-date hard and electronic files for easy access and retrieval. Ensure safekeeping of confidential materials.
2. Create and maintain files of correspondence/documents and electronically received information, and ensure up-to- date filing. Maintain both hardcopies and electronic copies of the office records and reference files on various subjects.
3. Prepare presentation material/slides in Power-point for presentations for the meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings.

Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Country Representative, the Programme Coordinator of IUCN Bangladesh and project manager, from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS
SALARY
The minimum gross annual salary for this position is BDT 561'874. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
