Result of Service
Implementation of UN system wide approaches on biodiversity and pollution at global, regional and national level, presentation and communication of the EMG work at UNEA 6 and other relevant intergovernmental processes.
Work Location
Geneva based consultancy with a flexibility to work from home on occasions, with a prior approval from the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide input across the EMG workstreams: Collaborating on Global Environmental Issues; Supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With focus on biodiversity, pollution, human rights and the environment, and nexus dialogues. • Conduct thorough research, compile, and analyze data and information. • Prepare and review written documents, including background documents, meeting summaries, concept notes, policy briefs and reports. • Develop presentations related to the EMG workstreams. • Organize and plan meetings, events, and webinars. • Develop communication and awareness raising content for online publication.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree in the area of international relations, environmental studies, sustainable development or other related subject. Minimum 6 months working experience with issues related to environment and sustainable development at the global or UN system level. Familiarity with the work of UN agencies on environmental issues is desirable.
Languages
For the advertised post, fluency in oral and written English is an absolute requirement.

The United Nations Environment Management Group (UNEMG) was established in 1999 by the UN General Assembly as a UN system-wide coordination body on the environment. Its main goal is to integrate the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into the policies, plans and strategies of United Nations entities. The EMG Secretariat is seeking a consultant to support the implementation of the EMG’s workplan for 2023-2024 including activities related to system wide approaches to biodiversity and pollution and nexus dialogues.
