Basic Needs India (BNI) is a resource organization working in the area of Community Mental Health and Development (Visit: www.basicneedsindia.org).
 
BNI is looking for a dynamic Associate Director (AD), committed to community development and leadership for its programmes in India. The ideal AD will be one who can work with her / his team. This posting is in Bangalore Only.
 
The key aspects of this role is:
  1. Support in Program Development, Management and Delivery against Objectives: in all states of India where BNI works in collaboration with NGO partners and the staff team.
  2. Human Resource Management: recruitment and management of human resources, providing on-going support to the team and allocating resources to ensure quality work is done.
  3. Governance and Statutory Requirements: assisting the Secretary of BNI to ensure that the organization meets all legal and statutory requirements, keeping the trustees informed of developments and monitoring and evaluating the work of BNI so as to ensure that good practices are followed throughout the organization.
  4. Public Relations, Networking, Communication and Documentation: Disseminating the work of BNI nationally and internationally to relevant organizations through reports, publications and electronic media. Influencing policy and advocacy and networking with like-minded organizations in the field of mental health. Ensuring relevant documentation and data is maintained. Promoting study and research in Mental Health in discussion with the Executive Director.
  5. Fund Raising: Developing proposals, raising funds for the work of BNI, liaison with donors by working with the Executive Director.
  6. Innovation: Bringing innovation into the field of Mental Health, and through our programs and projects.
  7. Mobility: The AD is expected to travel to the project sites and support the BNI teams, partner organisations, Government institutions and departments, in monitoring and improving in the programme implementation.
  8. Training: Offer/organize periodical training to the staff team, the field level team, the partner organisations, other Government and community stake holders strengthening their capacity for effective implementation of community mental health, based on observed, felt and expressed needs
The AD is eventually expected to take over the majority of the above responsibilities independently. She / He will also be required to undertake any other task required to promote the objectives of the organization and for its smooth functioning.
 
Candidate Pre-requisites:
 
Essential:
  • M.Phil or Masters in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent.
  • Minimum10 years’ experience in community development sector especially in the field of Mental Health.
  • Knowledge of English, Hindi and Kannada.
