Overview & Responsibilities

This position which reports to the Security Manager, provides oversight of the national security function within the Afghanistan program. The Security Specialist ensures the safety of all staff working in Afghanistan.

 

This Security Specialist will be responsible for the following duties,

  1. Management of National Security Staff

Administer and manage the drivers and dispatch officers, ensuring that they are carrying out their duties in accordance with the Terms of Reference (TORs). This will be done in support of the Security Officer- Kabul Operations, who is responsible for managing the Kabul operation and associated processes.

  1. Carry out field security assessments, management and training tasks in provincial locations.
  1. Security Operations & Administration
  • Conduct liaison activities with DFA departments and security entities, in support of IDLO security operations.
  • Conduct security inductions for new national staff.
  • Assist in theft investigations, CCTV review and other investigative activities.
  1. Maintain and manage IDLO Security Administration
  • Staff vetting, issuance of IDLO ID cards, Vehicle passes
  • Armored Vehicle licenses,

Conduct other security and support tasks as required by the SM.

 

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have extensive experience completing Security Risk Assessments.
  • Experience of working in an International Organization
  • Experience managing security, utilizing both armed and unarmed personnel.
  • Excellent knowledge of the security situation across Afghanistan and willing to travel.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in cooperation with Afghan security forces.
  • Possess a relevant and up to date network of contacts within the security forces and DFA.
  • Able to confidently deliver security training and develop materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Keen sense of ethics, integrity, and commitment to IDLO’s mandate.

Education:

  • University degree in Business Administration or relevant experience in the security field.

Experience:

  • 5 years relevant experience

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari is required.
