Context

The United Nations Information Centres (UNIC) are a network of 63 offices around the world that are key to to reach the peoples of the world and to share the United Nations story with them in their own languages. The UNIC are the main sources of information about the UN in the countries where they are located and are responsible for promoting greater public understanding of and support for the aims and activities of the UN. It is part of the Department of Global Communications (DGC) of the UN Secretariat. Social media, social listening and monitoring are key tools to reach audiences and understand the conversations and perceptions around the UN and its work. This is instrumental for strengthening the positioning of the United Nations in the country as a crucial partner for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Peru and to support the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Peru 2022-2026. Products and content developed by the volunteer will be shared in the UN Peru social media such as Facebook, Instagram, X and Linkedin, which are the official accounts of the UN System in Perú. This will help in promoting special UN campaigns and main activities of the organization in its efforts to achieve the SDGs.

Task description

We are looking for one Online Volunteer who, under the immediate supervision of the National Information Officer at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Lima, Peru, is required to support with the social media products to disseminate the UN work by performing the following tasks: - Assist in development and final production of social media products, as well as enrich potential online initiatives to audiences to raise awareness of the UN work. - Prepare and organize social media content on priority campaigns for the United Nations on topics such as misinformation, hate speech, what is the United Nations, climate action, human rights, peace and multilingualism. - Assist in development and final production of social media products.
