Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations. 

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 400 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2023 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Mykolaiv is looking for an English Teacher who will enable staff members of the organization to improve their English language skills, fostering effective communication within the organization.
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver English language courses for staff members of the Danish Refugee Council in Mykolaiv, ensuring effective language acquisition and communication skills development.
  • Assess and accommodate different proficiency levels among learners.
  • Tailor instruction to various proficiency levels: Customize lesson plans and materials to accommodate learners with varying levels of English proficiency, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Customize lesson plans and materials to meet individual learning needs.
  • Improve cross-cultural communication within the organization.
  • Enhance staff collaboration and effectiveness in achieving the organization's mission.
  • Respond to exceptional requests for administration tasks as agreed with line manager.
  • Implement innovative teaching strategies and teaching materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate learner progress.
  • Train and prepare staff to obtain English language certification as needed.

Required experience and competencies:

 

  • We expect you to have at least 3 years of work experience in English Teaching.
  • Adaptability to tailor instruction to different learning styles and levels.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Stress resistance and a positive attitude towards tasks.
  • High professional ethics and understanding of privacy policy.
  • Certification in relevant teaching qualifications (preferred).

 

We offer:
Contract length: 3 month renewable after satisfactory probation period. 
Level: H non Manager (part-time)
Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv  - Part-time based 
Start date: As soon as possible.
