SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, a member organization of SOS-Kinderdorf International, provides total care to the children who have lost their parents as well as the children who are at risk of losing the care of their biological family. SENIOR CO-WORKER (EXECUTIVE) YOUTH FACILITY - PILIYANDALA
According to SOS Children's Villages policies and procedures, the Senior Co-Worker is responsible for guiding the youth towards independence so that they become self-sufficient contributing members of society when they leave the care of SOS Children's Villages.
In achieving this, the senior co-worker should be seen as a role model and positive role model who provides advice, guidance and support to young people as they grow from adolescence to adulthood. Male candidates below the age of 45 years is preferred.
Main Responsibilities:
- The Senior Co-worker - Youth is someone who has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and decision-making of the youth facility. He also holds the overall responsibility of staff management.
- Follows rules and regulations in youth facilities and ensures that youth are given the best possible care in accordance with SOS Children's Villages policies and procedures at all times.
- Properly manages paperwork, PDB2 and administration for youth facilities in collaboration with the National Office.
- Ensures that young people maintain close contact with SOS mothers, aunts, and siblings.
- Helps youth gain the financial skills and responsibility needed to lead safe and independent lives outside of youth facilities.
- Adherence to all safety policies (CPP, COC and PSHEA) as well as other key policies and procedures of the organization.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree or Diploma in Youth care, Psychology, Social sciences, Sciences or Art or other equivalent qualification.
- Candidates who are between the age of 30 – 45 years are preferred.
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in youth, communities or marginalized communities or any other relevant field is desired.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a genuine desire to work with children and youth.
- Empathy, caring and sound listening skills.
- Good communication skills in local language and communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy
This is a residential position and the selected candidate will be offered furnished quarters for family.
