INTRODUCTION TO GGGI

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. To learn more please visit about GGGI web page. 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY 

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Regional Office for Africa, Business Development Unit based in Abidjan, to support the team on strategic donor relations management and donor outreach (current and potential). Current, potential partners and donors encompass governmental donors, private sector, foundations, and international financing institutions as well as innovative financing modalities. The intern will primarily contribute to supporting donor/strategic partner research, intelligence gathering of funding trends, in-depth research on target donors, /partners in the region and on all GGGI sectors as well as the preparation of materials in support of advocacy and resource mobilization activities. The latter entails assistance with the development of tailored fundraising materials, making the case of funding for GGGI to target stakeholders.

The assignment will include the followings but not limited to:

  • Assist with conducting research on Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding trends in view of the development of partnerships with development partners and non-state actors in the region.
  • Contribute to monitoring of new initiatives, events and innovative financing opportunities related to GGGIs vision, mission, and goals in the region, aimed at supporting African countries transition to a green economy.
  • Support the preparation of tailored advocacy, outreach and pitch materials targeting both current and potential donors.
  • Support the preparation of business cases and programme proposals.
  • More responsibilities within business development as deemed fit.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in at least Bachelor's program or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months) majoring in human resources, education, business administration or other business-related fields. Master's degree in human resources, organization development or related fields is an advantage.
  • Passionate about the work of Human Resources and the topic of climate change.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel in particular.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Positive and proactive mindset that brings people together.
  • Previous experience in Human Resources is welcomed. 
 
SELECTION PROCESS
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  • GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); the level of interest and motivation to be part of the HR team and GGGI overall; and performance in the interviews.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Duration: The internship program is for six months.

Stipend: GGGI internship program provides a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.  

Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining the necessary visas.  

Travel: Selected candidate will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location. Remote work may be considered.

Medical Insurance: Selected candidate must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.

Confidentiality: Selected candidate must keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  

Academic Credit: Selected candidate may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  

Working Hours: Selected candidate is expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Manager.

Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.

Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
