Ref: N-23-83 RLM&EO/NRS/HQ Regional Learning Monitoring and Evaluation Officer The International Potato Center (CIP) is searching an outstanding and experienced candidate as Regional Learning Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for our hosted organization, the Wyss Academy for Nature in the region. The Wyss Academy for Nature (WA) at the University of Bern’s vision is to achieve a just and sustainable world in which nature conservation and human wellbeing reinforce each other. We are a place of innovation, where research, business, policymakers, practitioners and communities come together to co-design solutions for sustainable futures. Our goal is to research, develop, and implement innovative solutions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, land use change and rising inequality by connecting technical, social, economic, institutional and policy innovations at the interface of nature and people. The WA comprises four regional hubs, one each in Europe (Switzerland), South America (Peru), East Africa (Kenya), and Southeast Asia (Laos).

About the role: the selected candidate will provide support to the systematic collection of evidence regarding the Wyss Academy’s impact in the region. Regional Learning Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be based in Lima, Peru and report to the Regional Stewardship Hub South America Director. This position is a temporary replacement for substitution.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the Hub’s Director and Senior Advisor in the overall implementation of the Wyss Academy’s LM&E strategy in the South America Hub.

• In coordination with the Wyss Academy’s Head of Learning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, assist in the design of LM&E procedures, templates and guidelines to support strong reporting at hub level.

• Assist theprogramme managersandpartner organizationsin thedefinitionofthe programme’sandproject’s outcomes, outputs, and indicators so that different interventions are in line with the theory of change – both at regional hub and global levels.

• Support to regional level data capturing, analysis and quality assurance processes.

• Support in capturing baseline data for the different projects, programmes, and other interventions of the Wyss Academy in South America.

• Support the implementation of quality assurance mechanisms and monitoring checks at regional level, enabling improved capturing and narration of programmatic results and impact.

• Follow up on and share with programme managers and partner organizations information about reporting requirements and timelines and follow up with hub staff members and partners to ensure timely submission of high-quality periodical reports.

• Support the collection of documentation to validate reports and carry out regular spot checks. • Support programme managers in the creation of a learning space among the programme’s partners and other relevant external stakeholders.

• Support the Hub's Director in creating and facilitating safe spaces for internal discussion of lessons learned and agreement on subsequent steps.

• Assist in the training and capacity building activities relating to LM&E with Hub staff and partner organizations’ representatives.

• Assist the Hub’s Director in preparation and management of external evaluations.

• Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.

What are we looking for?

• Master Degree or PhD (desirable) in evaluation, environmental studies, geography, agriculture, economics, sociology, international development, public policy, or other related fields. • 8 years of experience in a similar position, focusing on monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) aspects.

• Studies in knowledge management, programme design, theory of change, outcome mapping and

harvesting methodologies, open standards or Logic frame.

• Extensive experience of supporting MEAL strategies and systems and writing reports to different

stakeholders in diverse formats.

• Experience with knowledge management and learning processes is an asset.

• Experience in assessing stakeholder engagement and policy dialogues is an asset.

• Expertise with LM&E systems implementation is an asset.

• Competencies: teamworking, independent, proactive, creativity, cause-oriented, human-centered mindset,

systems thinker, analytical thinking.

• Excellent communication skills and fluency in Spanish and English both written and oral.
