Organizational Setting
FAO UZB is responsible for partnership with and support to the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, bringing together technical assistance innovative, international best practices and global normative work standards with national and regional expertise.
Reporting Lines
The Project Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Senior animal production health officer.
Technical Focus
Provide support to the project team on day-to-day coordination/implementation of the project in accordance with the annual work plan.
Tasks and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Senior animal production health officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties and responsibilities\:
• Provide support to the project team on day-to-day coordination/implementation of the project in accordance with the annual work plan;
• Support the International Team Leader and the National Project Coordinator in organization of meetings, trainings, workshops, webinars and other activities related to the project.
• Support the project in preparing procurement processes before being sent forward to SEC PU.
• Ensure that all supporting documents and information required to justify payment, including receipts, invoices, banking vouchers, etc., are complete before being sent to SEC for further processing.
• Support the project in work plan, timeline and expenditure planning and monitoring.
• Support all necessary local arrangements and logistics for the successful implementation of project activities in accordance with the agreed work plan and schedule, including travel arrangements for employees and consultants in the project.
• Provide support to the preparation of progress reports, back-to-office reports after missions and end of assignment report.
• Ensure the accurate recording of all project data relevant for operational and results-based monitoring.
• Provide other related support as required.
• Participate in field missions as necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in business administration, public management, finance or discipline relevant to the mandate of the Organization
• 5 years of experience in programme/project implementation relevant to the mandate of the Organization
• Working knowledge of English and Russian
• National of Uzbekistan or resident of the country with a valid work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills
• Knowledge of United Nations/FAO’s operational guidelines and project / programme management procedures is an asset.
• Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Exchange)
• Working knowledge of Uzbek is an asset
• Work experience in more than one location or area of work
• Extent and relevance of experience in project/programme formulation
• Extent and relevance of experience in results monitoring and reporting
• Familiarity with integrated water resource management principals in particular in agriculture.
