We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Financial Accountant with an eye for detail to support our Finance Team with dedication in a demanding and evolving role.

 

The Scope

To contribute to the smooth operation of the finance department by carrying out accounting activities and financial transactions in line with the principles of orderly bookkeeping. The candidate will be proficient in and understand the importance of our key Finance Operations relating to Accounting, Reporting, Treasury, Tax and Audit functions.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Verifying and processing supplier invoices in our ERP system SAP Busines ByDesign.
  • Verifying and processing travel expenses in our travel expense system Expensya and ensure that our travel expense guidelines are complied with.
  • Preparing the weekly payment runs.
  • Act as a contact person for all questions related to accounting matters for internal and external inquiries.
  • Assist with daily reconciliation of accounts.
  • Process and post bank statements (incoming and outgoing payments).
  • Support in the year-end closing activities and administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the automatization and digitalization of financial processes.
  • Any other task and project work assigned by the Head of Finance.

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Working Education and Training:

  • Training as financial accountant recognized in Germany, for example IHK, or equivalent.

Working Experience, Style, and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in financial accounting in Germany.
  • Experience in project controlling would be an asset.
  • Good time management skills, ability to perform well while handling simultaneously a number of functions.
  • Solution- and service-oriented attitude to work.
  • A strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills.

Languages:

  • Fluency in German and English (spoken and written).
  • Spanish is a plus.

Computer Skills: 

  • Good skills in the use of standard software packages (MS Office, especially in Excel).
  • Experience in the use of SAP Business by Design is an advantage. 

Others:

  • Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world.

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Bonn, Germany
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week. (Part time is also possible)
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required
